Wondering as of September 2022 if my licensed copy of Micrografx Picture Publisher v8 from C 1997 can be made to run under Windows 10 (or if there is a later or tweaked version of PP that will run there) - I currently run mine on an offline Windows Vista machine with very few snags - mostly video issues where parts of the work area go grey during operations such as freehand selection until I manage to refresh the display with a zoom in/out etc. I have been using PP for maybe 28+ years and love its features. I have tried unsuccessfully to persuade myself to learn to use my licensed copy of PS Elements - the learning curve compared with the familiarity of PP is too punishing, and I am not convinced that PSE would prove worth the effort (though it does have one alpha channel per layer compared with one shared across all objects in PP). Also looking to connect with any community of PP users. Thanks!
Gerry, Oddly enough, I have been able to run both versions 8 and 10 on my Win10, however, I have a friend who bought a new PC that came with Win 10 and her copy of MG v. 10 will not run smoothly on her PC.
Yvette, Thank you for your reply and apologies re this delayed response - notification lost in email. Good and bad news all in one, but am glad that you are able to run MG PP on your WIn10 system - magic! I've tried installing on Win10 again, having forgotten much in the meantime. I can execute the PP8 CD Autoplay in Admin mode, but once I chose the "Install" option I see no further progress. Did you install versions 8 and 10 from CD, and do you have any suggestions on how else I might attempt installation on my Win10 system? Thanks, and ahppy times with MG PP to you! Gerry
Yvette, I am quite good at Micrografx for a beginner as I have been using it for 10 years. I have only run into 1 brand of machine that won't run after installing it on Windows 10 and 11 over those years. The culprit's that won't run Picture Publisher 10 are my newest Intel NUC9 and NUC12 with i7 CPU's. I bought a copy of Pic Pub 6 Draw but it came right up and said I needed the 64 bit version. $4 down the drain I have always been able to run Pic Pub 10 under Windows 8 compatabilty mode until now. I don't look forwad\rd to learning a new graphics program.
Joebloggs, and the new version from Corel is offered on a lot of sights as the best replacement for Piic Pub 10, but is actually nothing lie it. I was disappointed.
